A handsome two-medal grouping from the Longines Symphonette Society “Great American Triumphs” collection, produced by the Wittnauer Mint during the 1970s. This historic commemorative series celebrates notable people, inventions, events, and achievements from American history through detailed, high-relief medallic artwork.

Included are two commemorative medals:

Samuel F.B. Morse – 1836 – Depicting Morse and the development of the telegraph, one of the most important advances in American communications.
The Pony Express – 1860 – Featuring Pony Express riders and the legendary overland mail service that became an enduring symbol of the American West.
The Great American Triumphs series was produced in multiple compositions, including sterling silver (.925 fine). Sterling examples are identified by their edge inscription. Comparable medals from the series measure approximately 39–40 mm in diameter and typically contain approximately 1.0–1.07 troy ounces of actual silver per medal, depending on the individual issue.

Both medals display the series’ distinctive antique-style finish and detailed relief and are housed together in an original Longines Symphonette “Great American Triumphs – Styled by Wittnauer” presentation box.
