Vintage two-medal sterling silver commemorative set produced by the Wittnauer Precious Metals Guild for the Longines Symphonette Great American Triumphs series.

This set features two beautifully detailed, high-relief historical medals honoring major achievements and figures in 20th-century American history:

Salk Polio Vaccine – 1954 – Honors Dr. Jonas Salk and the development of the polio vaccine, featuring a detailed portrait of Salk with scientific and laboratory imagery.
Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. – 1929–1968 – Honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., featuring a high-relief portrait and imagery commemorating his leadership in the American Civil Rights Movement.
The medals were produced in .925 sterling silver and feature the distinctive antique-style finish associated with the Wittnauer/Longines Symphonette commemorative series. Comparable medals from the series measure approximately 40 mm in diameter and contain approximately one troy ounce of actual silver per medal.
